Lost neighborhood

This is the story of the neighborhood of Ortakoy that lies along the shores of the Bosphoros. Known as Arkheion in antiquity, the district took on the name of Ayios Fokas in the 9th century. The locals of this charming little Byzantine fishing village were Greek and Jewish.
